TEHRAN -- Director Ali Akbar Valadbeigi plans to study Iranian culture from the Sassanid era to the first centuries of the Islamic era in his documentary “The Earth’s Deep Breaths”.

“This series is the sequel of the documentary series ‘Earth Is My Shelter’, which was broadcast by IRIB Channel 2 between 2000 and 2002,” Valadbeigi told MNA on Thursday.

“We traveled across Iran to find historical artworks. However, we focused on places whose historical artworks have been ignored. For instance, ‘Takht-e Rustam’ is a historical place near Persepolis, but it is ignored by most tourists. And there are some catacombs on Khark Island that are very important sources for historical studies,” he explained.

“In the Islamic era study of our country, we dealt with the artworks of the Seljuk and Ilkhanid eras such as the Jame’ Mosque of Zavvareh, Fars Province, which was the first Iranian mosque with four terraces. Then, we studied other Islamic artworks up to the time of Sultan Mohammad (Ilkhanid era),” he added.

The documentary was made by the nine main crew members in 13 episodes and will be aired on IRIB Channel 4 this week.
